Simon Brown is Associate Professor in Film, TV and Media.
He has written extensively on numerous aspects of Film and Television, including early cinema, British cinema, colour cinematography, cult and quality TV and TV horror. Recent publications include a monograph on the early years of British film entitled Cecil Hepworth and the Rise of the British Film Industry 1899-1911, published by the University of Exeter Press. He has also written on TV shows including The X-Files, Alias, Dexter and Under the Dome, and on 3DTV. His current research revolves around the author Stephen King, and he is currently completing a monograph Screening Stephen King: King Adaptations and the Horror Genre on Film and TV, due for publication in 2017.
